- Come to work earlier than your expected time. - By coming in a little earlier, you can familiarize yourself with the surroundings and leave an impression that you're more than ready to get started.
- Greet everyone upon your introduction. - It's hard to warm up to other people immediately. But showing your courtesy is a good first step in building camaraderie, especially among those whom you will be working with on a daily basis.
- Join your colleagues during break time. - Don't be afraid to make new friends. If your colleagues invite you to eat with them, don't turn them down. They'll probably want to know more about you, so just answer them properly and confidently. This also gives you a chance to know more about them, and break whatever awkwardness you had when you entered the office.
- Be very attentive. - You won't be given a lot of tasks on your first day. Day one is allotted for your orientation where you will be briefed about your company's history, management, and rules and regulations. You will also be given a background of the different departments and their functions. Although it isn't your duty to know all of those, you still have to pay attention, so that you at least have an idea about your company, and you know what unit to approach if you need any assistance.
